HaJ has just had a news update that's worth checking out.
With the new playtest team they have started to get a propper feel of the maps
and things are speeding up in production.
Funny thing is, you might be the one holding the key for HaJ's future release.
They need a few more team members and without them there will be no release. We desperately need someone to help us complete our German player model as our current one is “on loan” from Day of Defeat.
So if you want to help out, head over and spred the happy news. :) Ham and Jam

If a player model is what is holding up release, then I say release.
The golden rule of successful mods is "release early and release often"
Generate interest and downloads for the mod, and add a new player model in once you can, but holding onto something indefinitely for something like that may be a long wait. Once new people start showing up after the mod is released, you start bringing in new people and new artists, I'm sure a new Axis model would come out of the wood works sooner than later.

I know for a fact Surgeon modeled some Fallshrimjager models, what about those?
There are always around however painful they can be.

We have surgeon's models but they are not finnished, also there is other content that needs taken care of before we can release.
Read the info on the HaJ site.
(I don't think we have a 'go ahead' from DoD to use their models either.)

Black Mesa Source uses community projects to help create content for their mod. Might be an useful idea as well
Might want to also advertise your progress and help wanted on Halflife2.net, Hl2world.com, Moddb.com and others. You guys have quality stuff going on, keep it up. Eye of the tiger!

Two answer two points:
1) We don't use the DoD GCF as there is actually little of use to us in it. That and we don't want to force players to have DoD just for say the 10 models we might use.
2) We can't "just" release because we're not legal. Our current German model is the DoD model with some hacks. Surgeons Fallschirmjager is again, a hacked DoD model and we need a generic German solder rather than airborne.
